5AM: A Poem About Ankylosing Spondylitis

She rolled over
Wrapped in her skeleton
Devoured by it’s pain
No No No
Don’t roll again
Ashamed, a shame, a pain

She lifted her body
Off the bed
Lead Lead Lead
Weighing her, slaying her
Rearranging her

Foot to the floor
Heel to toe
No No No
Try to let it go
Slow, Slow

One step, two step
Three step
Feel the pain and step some more
Five step, six step, seven step

This is Ankylosing
