Mental and physical hurdles with a new biologic prescription

Hey all. I'm really curious to hear about your experience transitioning to a biologic, whether it was your first time on any biologic, or a move to a new biologic.

I'm due to start on one within the next week and while I'm grateful to have access to this medication, I also have some last minute anxiety. I keep asking myself, "do the benefits outweigh the risks?"

In summary, I feel like I am giving up some of my health to gain some health in other areas. It's a confusing sort of feeling and I'd love to hear how others managed these feelings, and how your biologic improved your physical circumstances.

Additionally, if you have any advice regarding how to best monitor your health in terms of the associated risks (heart failure, underperforming immune system, uveitis, etc.) that come with taking a biologic, that'd be great.

  1. It was the best thing I have ever done, after marrying Sheryl of course. I used my first one 21 years ago and I would not turn back the clock even one minute to not use biologic medications. I obviously cannot predict how things will go with you. But even when things have not worked out, I never once thought about not taking the next one.

Give up health to get health? Not once have I given up health. But I sure have gotten a lot of much better health. I wish you great success..................... rick (moderator)
