Do You Experience Migraines?

Do you experience migraines? Do you think it is linked to AS?

I have always suffered from migraines. But since my AS started the amount and the intensity of my migraines have increased a lot.

I would know if I'm alone with this or not.

  1. Hi thank you for replying and sharing your story with me. I'm sorry that you've dealt with all that for so long.

That's why I started this form as I too wouldn't be surprised if migraines are associated! I've been having migraines since I was a young teenager, my rheumatologist knows this.

Over a year ago I had a bad reaction to a new medication but I ended up in the ER with the worst migraine that lasted over a week. My rheumatologist then took me off this med.

Since January I've been tracking my migraines, I'm seeing my rheumatologist in May so I will update him on this!

How are you feeling since your diagnosis? For me, it was a relief to have an answer to my pain but also made me upset!

Always here if you need to talk,

    1. Since I was about 7 I have suffered from headaches. They slowly progressed into migraines over the years. I didn’t start to have lower back pain until about age 14. My jaw began dislocating around age 16, hips around age 25. Neck pain around age 27. My lower back flare ups turned into everyday debilitating pain around age 33. The migraines became treatment resistant about six months ago at age 35. In December of 2021 I went to a large hospital ER department for the neck/migraine pain because my primary doctor was of no help. An MRI showed cervical Ligament Ossification which lead me to a Rheumatologist. I was just diagnosed with AS a couple of days ago.

Knowing that AS is AI, I would not be surprised if migraines are associated with AS but I still haven’t gone down that rabbit hole.

Have you spoke with your Rheum about the recent changes in your migraines?
