Covid vaccine and biological quit working
I had 2 Pfizer vaccines and no problems at all. I got the first Pfizer booster and no problem(I thought), then shortly there after my booster, my Enbrel quit working. I went from no symptoms for 15 years to having trouble walking because my knees hurt and my shoulders hurt and my hands hurt and my elbows hurt. I didn’t correlate that it was maybe because of the booster until I got the second booster and I looked at the date of my first booster and saw that that’s right when the symptoms hit me.
My doctors think my Enbrel just quit working randomly, but I think that’s too much of a coincidence. Wondering if anybody else on biologicals has had them quit working after the booster?
Good news, is that I never tested positive for Covid ever. Now I’m not sure if I want to take another booster or not? I’m over 60 years old and slightly overweight.
I got off to Enbrel and got on another biological medicine for four months, it did not work for me. My doctor didn’t think Enbrel would work for me again, but it did! I’ve been on it again for several months and it’s much better than the other biological that I was on but I’m still struggling some from the damage that was done when the Enbrel quit working. I’ve never had problems with my knees. But guess that’s part of the journey?
Anybody else have Enbrel stop working ?

That is very strange that your Enbrel stopped working after your vaccine when the previous two went fine!
I am on Enbrel and am 4 shots deep without any effect on my medication so far. Although I was advised to skip my injections a week before and after the shot by my rheumatologist so I don't know if that helped me at all.
It could well just be the case that it is a coincidence and it just happened to stop working too!
Have you been able to find a new treatment that works instead?

Hi there How are you feeling today? I have never gotten the vaccine so I can’t be of much help with your question but I can share a similar story. In 2021 I was on cimzia it was helping me tremendously but 4 months into taking it I developed PVC’s in my heart they couldn’t tell me if it was due to the biologic or due to the AS so they took me off of it because I had to have a cardiac ablation after I was put back on it but it didn’t help again after my procedure so you just never know with these biologics.
